CONTEST RULES

Aalto University’s contest for improving the quality of life in the urban environment, The Contest of Your Dreams (“Contest”), is governed by these rules (“Rules”) and by participating the Contest you as a participant (“Participant”) agree to comply with these Rules.

1. Organizer
The Contest is organized by Aalto University, Helsinki (hereinafter “Aalto University”).

2. Ideas submitted to the Contest and Right to participate
The Participants may submit their entries to the Con test on the website ideas.aalto.fi. The Participants may submit ideas for improving the quality of life in the urban environment and such ideas may belong to the categories of Business, Technology, Art and Design. Participants shall write their ideas down on an empty note on the website. The text limit of the idea is 160 characters.

The Participants shall be over 18 years old or have the approval of their guardians/guardian in order to participate in the Contest.

An individual Participant may submit 1 entry to the Contest.

Participating in the Contest is free of charge for the Participant.

Members of the Contest jury (”Jury”) or members of their families are not eligible to participate the Contest.

3. Contest Period
The Contest Period is 10.1-31.3.2012.

Only ideas entered to the Contest during the Contest Period are eligible for entry. Ideas posted on the ideas.aalto.fi website after the Competition Period will not be accepted to the Contest.

4. Jury
The Jury, designated by the Aalto University, shall select the winners of the Contest in two phases. The First stage shall be a public vote, based on Facebook likes, from which the TOP 20 of each category shall be selected. Out of these short-lists the Jury shall choose the final three ideas as the winners of the Contest.

5. Prizes
The winners of the Contest will be awarded the following prizes:
1st 1 000 euros
2nd 1 000 euros
3rd 1 000 euros

6. Announcement of the winners
The winners of the Contest will be announced in two weeks after the end of the Contest period [by March, 31th, 2012 at 10:00 AM] online at ideas.aalto.fi.

The winners will be contacted also at the e-mail address they have given in connection with their entry to the Contest to arrange the distribution of prizes. Aalto University shall not be liable for inability to contact the winner in the event that the Participant has given an incorrect email address or if the prize cannot be delivered to the Participant due to reasons beyond Aalto University’s control.

7. Inquiries regarding the Contest
The Contest website is part of the ideas.aalto.fi website. The most frequently asked questions regarding the Contest and answers to these questions will be posted on the Aalto website.

8. Intellectual Property Rights
Participant guarantees that Participant shall retain all rights in and to the submitted the Contest entry. Participant represents and warrants that the entry does not violate any copyright or other applicable laws or infringe upon any third party intellectual or other rights of third parties and every party involved in posting an idea have agreed on participating in the Contest. By submitting an entry to the Contest the Participant grants Aalto University the right to have all entries on the Contest website until 30.4.2012 and grants Aalto University the right to use the awarded entries for communications and marketing use, including the right to distribute the work for said purposes in analogue and digital media, until 31.12.2012, or as otherwise agreed with the winners.

9. Aalto University´s Liability
Participating in the Contest shall be upon Participants decision, and Aalto University shall have no liabilities regarding the participating the Contest or the Prizes.

10. Personal data
The Participants’ personal data shall be used solely for the purpose of arranging this Contest and notifying the winners, and shall be processed according the Personal Data Act of Finland.

11. Miscellaneous
Aalto University reserves the right to change the Terms.
These Rules shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Finland without giving effect to any choice of law provisions.
All disputes arising out of or in connection with these Rules shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Helsinki district court.
